Want to get started with dog drafting? Here's some great places to get information and supplies.
My dogs are extensively and carefully trained to do this work. Please consult a veterinarian before beginning drafting training, and be sure to take your time and make it fun for your dog.
Equipment:
Nordkyn Outfitters - My dogs wear their siwash cart harness in neoprene. They come in a variety of fun colors, but pay attention to their directions for sizing.
Carriage Dog LLC, Inc. - They sell shafts to attach to a Radio Flyer wagon. I purchased these for my small wagon. They are considerably heavier than I thought they would be based on the picture shown on their website. I can't say that I would recommend these unless you have a large working breed dog.
Amish Wagons - My large wagon came from here. It arrived very quickly and with no problems. It looks much better than the pictures. You will not be disappointed. My only recommendation is to consider the weight your dog can pull vs the size of wagon you purchase. They only offer single dog shafts which would not at all suit either of my german shepherds alone. We will be using a Nordkyn double team shaft for carting instead.
Dog Works, Inc. - I haven't purchased from this company, but it's heavily linked on other dog drafting sites so it's a good bet that they are a reputable company. They have recently undergone new ownership, but I understand that they are still the same reputable company as ever.
